The Challenge Awaits

How do you turn intricate digital fashion designs into sleek, interactive AR experiences?

We were tasked with converting CLO-designed fashion exports into accurate, interactive AR models using Blender and Vectary—tools I had never used before. The challenge was both technical and creative: keeping garment detail intact while ensuring AR usability.

The Conflict

New tools, tight timelines, high visual standards.

I had never used Blender or Vectary before. With only three of us on the team and 34 designs to complete, we had to learn fast while preserving the precision of each fashion student’s original vision.

Searching for the One

Discovering the workflow from CLO to Blender to AR.

We explored multiple import-export methods, troubleshooting texture stretching, mesh issues, and alignment problems. I adapted quickly to the established workflow, a reliable pipeline for getting models from CLO to Blender, then into Vectary for AR deployment.

Bringing Ideas to Life

Turning 2D visions into immersive, mobile-friendly fashion.

I personally handled 11 full looks—adjusting topology, materials, and lighting to enhance visual fidelity while remaining AR-optimized. Every model needed to look polished and professional, especially on a phone screen since viewers were scanning QR codes to open it on their phones.

Testing the Magic

Refining visuals to hold up in real-time.

AR brought unique challenges: scale, lighting, and interaction had to work fluidly across devices. I tested and adjusted models repeatedly to strike the right balance between detail and performance. I got consistent feedback from the students I was assigned, and made sure their garments reflected the vision they had in mind.

The Destination

A living digital runway.

The final result was a collection of 34 fashion designs showcased in AR—each wearable piece captured in 3D and viewable from any angle. It was an interactive twist on traditional fashion showcases, delivered with technical precision and style.

Reflection on Journey

Where creativity meets technical curiosity.

This internship taught me how quickly I can learn new software under pressure and how technical workflows can support artistic vision. I now feel confident working in 3D environments and converting them into engaging, accessible AR experiences. I saw the fashion show in person and it was incredible and I had such an excellent time with this project and the team.
